tries to assess the causes of sexual harassment at the workplace from a representative
sample drawn from 50 corporate houses in and around Kolkata. The study, though
subjective, tries to project the ground realities on the issue of exploitation and
subordination of females at the workplace based on empirical evidences. By having a
better understanding of the factors contributing to the phenomenon, decision makers
will be better able to structure the policies on provisions of equal opportunity in the
